WtPB 35: Alan Moore Movies

This week Sarah, Derek and Dylan were going to talk about 3 Larry Blamire films, but we had trouble getting our hands on them so we ended up discussing two adaptations of Alan Moore graphic novels in Watchmen and V for Vendetta.
We started with Watchmen, which on the surface appears to be a super hero movie but it really isn't. There's really only one scene in the entire movie where the characters are acting heroically. Really it's closer to a detective story, where the characters are attempting to unravel a conspiracy.

Then we discussed V for Vendetta. Another story which appears to be about a man trying to take down a corrupt government, but that's really more of a byproduct of the characters quest for revenge.

The two movies are very similar in some ways and vastly different in others. The one major thing they have in common is how they treat the "heroic" characters. These are not purely good people. They're all deeply flawed people who are doing their best in terrible circumstances.

So without wasting any more of your time, here is episode 35 of Welcome to Planet Bob.

As always we encourage you to check out our Amazon links if you're interested in picking up one or both of these movies. But anything you buy after following these links will help us out.
