WtPB 27 - The Rise of Peter Jackson Pt 2

This week Sarah(@SarahScullbag), Derek(@Larzm) and I(@king_of_bob
) sit down to finish up our discussion about Peter Jackson's rise to becoming a household name.

We started this week by talking about a film that really feels very different from anything else he's done in a little film called Heavenly Creatures. The film revolves around the twisted friendship between two young girls in New Zealand in the mid-1950s. Staring Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynske in their feature film debuts in which they both turn in amazing performances as Juliet Hulme and Pauline Parker respectively.

From there we went on to talk about Peter's last film before making Lord of the Rings, The Frighteners. Staring Michael J Fox, Trini Alvarado and Jeffrey Combs.  All three of us agreed that this is a very underrated movie and doesn't get the love that it should. The basic setup to the story is that a man named Frank Bannister who has the ability to see ghosts. With the help of some ghost pals he cons folks around his town to make ends meet when all of a sudden Frank starts seeing glowing numbers carved into peoples foreheads.

We're pretty all over the place, maybe a little more than usual this episode. We were all pretty tired, but it was a fun chat. We hope you have as much fun listening as we had recording.

As always we encourage you to buy the movies we discussed today, but even if you don't buy these movies, anything you buy after following the links will help us out.

And don't forget that we're also available on iTunes and Stitcher.
